TETHER RUNNING- AN ULTIMATE TEST OF PELVIC STRENGTH AND STABILITY

Here are some of our athletes performing sprints with Long Tubing and flotation cuffs attached to their ankles. The exercise demands extreme pelvic strength, power and endurance as the athletes try to maintain pelvic alignment (hips under shoulders) while they resist the tubing pulling their feet (and pelvis) behind their hips.

This exercise always humbles my athletes who spend a great deal of time in the weight room. Even with their "weight room strength" they fail to reach the other side of the pool due to weak PELVIC STRENGTH AND STABILITY. Their "weight room strength" becomes unaccessible!!
